What you should know about Oyster Bay Lodge
Oyster Bay Lodge is a famous destination for those looking for a place to unwind from the daily rat race. You can revitalize while participating in outdoor activities along a 3,5 kilometer private sandy beachfront. The lodge is set on 235 hectares of unspoiled landscape and incorporates magnificent dunes, woods, river deltas, beaches, wetlands, lagoons, home to 20 free roaming horses and has an extensive bird life. Oyster Bay Lodge is the ideal Garden route accommodation to start (coming from Port Elizabeth) or finish (coming from Cape Town) your holiday. Our family loved every moment of our stay at Oyster Bay. The staff went out of their way to make our stay unforgettable and the food was wonderful and the bay is just out of this world. My husband has been all over the world and he said it is the most beautiful beach he has seen. It's a bit comparable to the beaches of St. Lucia (ZA) but the dunes are much nicer (yes, the water is much colder). The Klipdrift River is flowing through the reserve and can be enjoyed from the Boma. Read a great book, overlooking the Klippedrift river, magnificent dunes, and majestic Indian ocean. Several community projects, one of which is the creche at Umzamawethu. Oyster Bay Lodge is nestled between Tsitsikamma National Park and Jeffrey's Bay ( a world renowned surfing paradise ) and is part of St Francis Bay municipality ( restaurants and shops ). It is the start of a 24 kilometer long dirt road to Oyster Bay Lodge. As our guests, we recommend to check in before 15:00 to be in time for a first overview. For a full range of Activities we refer to our Activities page. Oyster Bay Lodge is situated on a 235 hectare Coastal Reserve, which includes 3.5 kilometer of pristine private coastal beachfront. Oyster Bay Lodge has a picturesque setting of wind-drift dunes, woods, river deltas, lagoons and home to free roaming horses. Therefore, it our responsibility to maintain this natural environment and respect the land and nature’s natural state. With Oyster Bay Lodge being a 4-Star establishment, we feel that it is our responsibility to look after our piece of paradise as a gift from nature. Hiring & training of locals to give opportunity of employment at the lodge. Separation of glasses, plastics, papers, metals and deliver to a recycling plant. Staff are trained on a regularly basis on in-service training with aspects of the hospitality industry.
